Abilify changed my life: I never thought I would ever see myself in a wheelchair, let alone in a wheelchair because of medication. I was a healthy, active college student in my early twenties. Now I am in my forties and I find myself in a wheelchair because of medication. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in my mid-twenties. I took this medication, Abilify, for a short time, it changed my life. Before I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, I was a high functioning individual. I was involved in many activities, I had a job, I was living on my own, I was dating, I had friends, etc. Also tried to keep my symptoms very private.
I was prescribed Abilify (generic name: aripiprazole) in 2010 to help manage my bipolar disorder. It was an extremely difficult adjustment for me, to be honest. I got it to help make my life better, but the side effects were almost unbearable at times. I was too tired to do anything, my jaw hurt all the time, and I was bursting out of my skin. So, I decided to research the medication online. I found some very helpful websites that explained the effects of the medication on people who have bipolar disorder, and I found some very helpful websites that explained the effects of the medication on other people.
Some people stories about Abilify
I have been on Abilify for over a year now and I wanted to tell my story. It’s taken me a little while to settle into a routine, but I’ve finally found a way to make this medication work for me. I was given Abilify to treat my depression. It was the first time I’d ever taken anything for it. It felt like my own special medication. But I really felt It good. I have bipolar disorder. That sounds dramatic, I know. I was diagnosed with it in my late teens, and have been taking a medication called Abilify ever since. In the past, I have been so afraid of the side effects of Abilify that I have resisted taking it. I knew about its weight gain side effects from research I had done on the internet, but also from friends. I had been trying to lose weight for years, and this fear of weight gain was interfering with my quality of life.
I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder as a teenager. I had my first psychotic break at the age of 14. Then I tried some different medications, some worked, some didn’t. I had a tough time staying on them because of the side effects. When I was 19 I met a pharmacist who changed my life. He gave me a medication called Abilify. I’m now 28, married, happy, and have a beautiful daughter who’s 6 months old. I’ve never felt better
