Plex There are No Items in This library: Plex is a great way to organize your favourite movies and TV shows, but what if you want to watch something that is either not on your Plex server, or isn’t on Plex at all? Perhaps you want to watch something from your own personal library on your Plex server, or maybe you just want to watch something on your mobile device. Well, if you use the Plex app for mobile, you can easily do all of these things, with ease.
I’ve been hosting the Plex server for a little while now, and I’ve become very comfortable with the Plex interface. It’s very well-designed, and the UI is very easy to use. However, after talking with a few of my friends over the years, I have noticed that the Plex server is not the best tool for some people. The server I ran on my home network has been running just fine, but since I live in a student area, I often have to share my home network with my roommate, and I can’t do that if he has Plex installed on his computer.
What is Plex
Plex is a media server that lets you stream your movies and music and play them on your computer, phone, and tablet. It’s an alternative to an Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, or Chromecast.
The average moviegoer is familiar with the term “plex”, but what do you know about it? What is a plex? In a nutshell, a plex is a movie theatre that has a television service attached to it. Think of it as a mini-theatre, only with the added bonus of being able to watch all your favourite flicks from the comfort of your own home. Theatres that have a plex, also known as a PLEX, are a great alternative for those that don’t have a television at home.
Plex There are no Items in This library
Here at Plex, we are constantly working to improve how our users enjoy their Plex Media Servers, but sometimes things are just so cool, so new, so innovative, so cutting edge, that it takes us a minute to wrap our heads around them. For our new “hash” library, that is exactly the case.
Plex – for anyone who’s ever opened the app and found their library totally barren. Plex has always been a sad experience but has recently gotten much, much worse. It appears to be randomly removing items from your library, and the only way to stop it is to reinstall the app in the hope that it’s not removed in the same way in the future. And if it happens continuously you can apply these steps.
- Reset folder permissions
- Name Files Properly And Reboot
- Change Server
- Sort your files
- Recheck your copying methodology
- Debug manually
- Manually edit plex metadata
- Use file-bot tool
- Tweak folder permissions
- Extract content again
- Re-include media
You can also RUN Plex on Xbox One, Apple TV, Chromecast, or Roku player.
If you have a Plex server, you probably have a bunch of movies, TV shows, photos, music, and other media on it. But, if you have Plex Media Server, you can not only access it from an iPhone, iPad, or Android device, but also from your Xbox One, Apple TV, Chromecast, or Roku player.

The Bottom Line ( Plex There are No Items in This library )
I love Plex. I love its openness, its simplicity, and its easy to use interface. And I love that you can install it on pretty much any platform, even your smartphone. I love its advanced features like tagging and watchlisting, its “secret channels” feature, its ability to sync over your network, and its ability to play media from your mobile device. I love that it remembers all your favourite things, like movies you like to watch at home, TV shows you like to watch on your laptop, or music you like to listen to at work.
